Adult Day Program
Overview.
QAP is a DDD-approved day program that provides services to adults with autism who primarily reside in Bergen County, New Jersey. The program enrolls adults over age 21 who continue to require individual supports after they have completed their school-based education.
The goal for each of our participants is to gain meaningful employment whether paid or volunteered. Strengths and preferences are regularly assessed and vocational opportunities are identified. Each day is scheduled to focus on individualized, functionally-relevant tasks and goals. In addition to employment, , daily living and social skills are also emphasized. For example, goals may include a fitness program, learning to grocery shop or bank independently, shaping grooming skills or learning how to send and respond to text messages.
Instructional philosophy
and staffing.
Ongoing training and treatment are based on the empirically validated teaching strategies and techniques derived from the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
All of our participants have individualized program plans designed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts. Plans typically focus on learning new vocational and life skills, increasing work endurance, maintaining previously learned skills; generalizing skills; and reducing challenging behaviors.
Each participant is supported by a trained Job Coach, and are paired with other participants with similar preferences to encourage socialization and partnership. The role of the Job Coach includes providing transportation to job sites, implementing individualized plans and collecting data on performance.
